PT Shreveport has completed another “PT Gives Back” project. As part of this sock drive PT Shreveport collected men’s & women’s socks, shoe inserts, soap & washcloths to benefit Hope House, in conjunction with St. Luke’s Medical Ministry.
Hope House serves the homeless population in Shreveport, providing day services, such as a place to wash clothes, take a shower, place a telephone call, or eat a snack. Many receive their mail there, as they have no permanent address.
St. Luke’s is an interdenominational group of volunteer medical personnel. Each Maundy Thursday, they provide medical services at Hope House, paying special attention to the feet. They are washed & examined in the worship service. Podiatric treatment is available as needed. Each participant will be given a brand new pair of shoes, new socks, and respectful and courteous treatment. Lunch is also provided. Last year, they served over 100 individuals.
Special thank you to Tina Caporossi for leading the charge with this initiative! Great Job PT Shreveport!
